Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote with Color Touchscreen (Electronics) I got this to replace my Harmony 650 which failed with the Activity button reboot issue (google it and you will see). Logitech offered me the half-price deal for any remote on their website…well, there aren’t very many there, so I chose this. At $100 it is a decent upgrade from the 650 but doesn’t really offer any new functionality. Compared to the 650:- Hopefully it won’t have any unfixable software failures…- Swapping from the 650 to the One was a snap. All the activities carried over and the device controls were spot on. It did have to relearn the one command learned from a device remote (30 second skip on the DVR). Like the 650, it is a great device and once you get used to it, there’s no going back to separate remotes. I actually just bought an IR receiver for my HTPC so I can use the Harmony with it too.- The backlighting on the buttons is MUCH better on this than on the 650. The buttons are clear, bright and easy to read.- The touch screen, while an attractive gimmick, doesn’t really add anything useful to the device. The 650 has a screen which can be personalized just like the One, but with hard buttons alongside. It’s actually harder to use the touch screen than the hard buttons because you have to be looking down at them, while also pointing the remote at your devices. There is no feedback to let you know it’s received your command, like the button momentarily highlighting like a smart phone would. (This would be easy to address with a software update–Logitech, are you listening?) This difficulty is exacerbated by the fact that the screen is so high up on the remote. It really is a two handed operation. It’s also way too easy to accidentally press a touch screen button while moving it around in the hand.- Similarly, the rechargeable batteries are nice but not necessary. I have read the complaints about battery failures and will be watching this like a hawk. It only lasts a day or two off the charger and really needs to be on the charger all the time. Not everyone has a place to plug in a charger stand right next to where they want to use the remote; fortunately I was able to rig something up. The less fancy 650 went six months or more on a pair of AAs.- The remote feels lightweight and fragile. My iPhone is about as heavy as this device, which is triple the size. I’ve also read the complaints about broken screens and I agree, you need to treat this like a wine glass every time you pick it up. I don’t have kids but if I did, I’d hesitate to let them use it, which kind of defeats the purpose. The 650 feels about as solid but, of course, has no touch screen to destroy.- The ‘wake on motion’ sensitivity was much better on the 650. I sometimes have to shake this a little to get it to light up.Overall, I am hooked on the concept of Harmony remotes but not on any of the actual devices. I wouldn’t have paid more than $100 for this–I probably would have swallowed hard and tried another 650. Agree 100% with the reviewer who said Logitech needs some competition in this space.

Logitech Harmony RF Wireless Extender (Electronics) This unit works exactly as advertised and the product was simple. My only beef is the significant delay between pushing a button on the remote, and the IR signal begin send. I suppose this might be inevitable, but I also use an IR range extender and that unit doesn’t introduce any delay at all that I can detect. The delay isn’t problematic except when you want to flip through menus, etc. The n it’s almost unbearable. I decided the RF feature wasn’t worth it because of that and returned mine.
Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal Remote with Color Touch Screen (Electronics) As far as universal remotes go, I like the Belkin interface to program the remote. But there are limits that frustrate me. First off, I got two of these; one for my system downstairs and another for my system upstairs. The y both turn all the gear on and off but there are some sequence nuances that I cannot seem to change even after have programmed, deprogrammed and reprogrammed them. The Help feature lets me fix the issues with out using the original remotes so it accomplishes the objective of having one remote but I wish that I could change the order or sequence of functions so that the one button feature would properly initiate the activity(ies) that I want. Also, I got the adaptor for the PS3 but had to use the original remote to help get it set up on my wireless network as the Belkin screen interface did not activate everything on the PS3.

Logitech 915-000148 Harmony 200 Remote for Three Devices – Black (Electronics) MUCH better than all those remotes with four-digit numerical codes. One of my TVs is a relatively recent (circa 2009) Sylvania-branded, Funai-manufactured unit. If you have ever tried to use one of those other ‘universal’ remotes (the ones you buy at a discount store for $10 or the ones that come with your cable, satellite, or U-Verse DVR) with a Sylvania TV, you have experienced the same extreme frustration I have, since Sylvania remote control codes are probably the most obscure out there. You can do all kinds of internet searches for the correct codes and come up empty. I have spent hours searching websites, user message boards, etc. for the right codes, to no avail. You can use the cheap ‘universal’ remote’s code-finding feature thousands of times and come up empty. I did. Even though I had the latest U-Verse remote, it just did not work with my TV. Even if you do find a code that works for some functions, it still probably won’t do everything the original OEM remote will do. But with the Harmony remote, no problem! You can check out whether your device is in the Harmony database before purchasing the Harmony remote by searching Logitech ‘s website for your exact model number. Amazingly, my TV was in the huge Harmony database! You can custom-map unused keys for more obscure functions to ensure complete functionality, customized for the way you prefer to use your device. It takes only a few minutes to set up your new Harmony remote, and using your PC to set up the unit beats the heck out of trying all 27 of your manufacturer’s four-digit codes to determine by trial and error which code gives you the best set of functions. I cannot recommend these enough. If you just have a TV, set-top box/DVR, and Blu-ray/DVD player, this three-device remote is a perfect solution for only around 20 bucks. Unbeatable. Buy one.

Logitech Harmony 900 Rechargeable Remote with Color Touch Screen (Electronics) This is a really nice remote. It does what it promises. It’s an improvement from the 890. The RF works very well, and I’m finding the new IR blaster more responsive than the old IR extender. I gave it four stars instead of five just because of value. It is pretty expensive.For anyone using RF upgrading from the 890, there is one thing to note. The for mer IR extender does not work with the 900. The new IR blaster works with the 900. In some ways that’s nice, because the blaster truly blasts the IR signal out omnidirectionally. That avoids having to epoxy each IR emitter to your different pieces of equipment. The downside to the IR blaster is that I’m finding it a bit difficult to know exactly where to put them. There are only two included with the remote. I have four devices that need RF, each on different shelves. With the two included blasters, I can cover three of them, but am finding it tricky to cover all of them. I’ll keep trying, and I guess I could buy another blaster.

Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote with Color Touch screen (Electronics) I am very happy with my new Logitech Harmony One remote. Before the Harmony One , I used seven separate remotes: Cable TV box, Television, Stereo Receiver , Roku box, DVD player, Logitech Squeezebox, and a Sirius Stiletto2 in a home dock. The Harmony One has made my entertainment experience much more convenient and simplified. One touch on my new remote turns everything on that needs to be turned on and it just works!Even if you have just two or three separate remotes, the Harmony One would still be a great convenience. My primary entertainment is my Cable TV and my secondary entertainment is my Roku. All audio is routed through my Stereo Receiver . I found that before the Harmony One , just switching between the Cable TV and the Roku was such a chore that many times I wouldn’t bother watching on the Roku because of the hassle involved. The input on the Television would have to be changed and the input on the Stereo Receiver would also have to be changed on their separate remotes. And then if I did watch on the Roku, everything would have to be changed again to switch back to watch on the Cable TV. Too much work!Now with the Harmony One remote, one touch and magically I can switch back and for th easily and quickly. I find that I am watching my Roku a lot more now in comparison to my Cable TV because it is so much easier to switch back and for th between the Cable TV and the Roku.There is an initial setup involved so that the Harmony One knows what entertainment devices you have. You have to connect the Harmony One to your computer. Then with the supplied software you first tell the software what make and model of Television and other devices you have. After that, you set up ‘activities’ to tell the Harmony One what needs to happen when you want to watch Cable TV for example. So you would check the boxes in the software to: turn on the Television and set to a specific input on the Television, turn on the Cable TV box and also turn on the Stereo Receiver and set to a specific input on the Stereo Receiver . (Before Harmony One , as you can see, there are multiple button pushes). After this initial setup, you don’t have to connect your Harmony Remote to your computer anymore.All my devices were known to the Harmony software. (The Roku box is in the Harmony software’s DVD category of devices. I read somewhere that this is because DVD means ‘Digital Video Device’.)Now, to watch Cable TV, I touch once the Harmony One remote on its screen to ‘Watch on Cable TV’. Then, to watch on my Roku, I touch once the Harmony One remote on its screen to ‘Watch on Roku’. One button for each activity and everything that needs to turn on is turned on and switches automatically to its correct input.The Harmony One remote’s volume up and down and mute buttons control the audio from my Stereo Receiver and the rest of its buttons control the other device I am currently using (e.g. Cable TV or Roku).I had previously programmed into my Cable TV box my ‘favorite’ channels’. On my Harmony One remote, there is a button on its touch screen for ‘favorites’. I just touch that button and I can cycle through my favorite Cable TV channels (over 100). I didn’t have to set up anything about this in the Harmony One software. Alternatively, if I hadn’t set up my ‘favorite’ channels on my Cable TV box, I could still program into the Harmony One through its software up to 24 favorite channels.If you have any issues setting up the Harmony One or using it, there is a special toll free support phone number to talk to a Logitech specialist to help walk you through the solution.This is a great purchase.

Windows 7 Vista XP Media Center MCE PC Remote Control and Infrared Receiver for Home, Premium and Ultimate Edition (Electronics) I got this remote to use with Windows Media Center and Avertv tv tuner and it works great. It is simple and effective. It is not super great for scrolling around the computer in general, but for Media Center and Media Player it works perfect. The infrared receiver for the remote works super great and picks up the remote from anywhere, even buried behind something. Which is nice because the light on it is bright. All in all, it works great for what I needed it to do and gives me freedom to controll media center from anywhere in my room, for a little bit of money. I would recommend.

Logitech Harmony 650 Remote Control (Silver) (Electronics) I just upgraded our media room 2 months ago with a new Screen, Blue Ray player and IPod Dock and was looking for that one remote to do all. Unfortunately, even though this remote performs most duties perfectly it still cannot get it right with the auto change of inputs between the Blue ray player and the signal to the TV from our HD cable box. This remote was billed as being able to handle auto change of inputs for TV and DVD. I’ve tried reinstalling the set up many times to no avail. It also has a glitch with turning on and off my Polk Audio Instant Theater Sound Bar. It will turn it on but within 2 seconds then it goes off until I go through fix it stage on the remote and the same thing happens when I shut down. It’s not the worst thing that can happen but it is getting annoying.
